SIGNIFICANT GOALS FOR YEAR 2008/2009

1.

Enhance recruiting strategies through improving testing and screening procedures of applicants, expand recruitment efforts outside immediate area and utilize different types of media for recruitment efforts.

2.

Clearly define and make readily available information on pay classification which is competitive with surrounding agencies.

3.

Provide community policing training for all employees.

4.

Continue our Weed & Seed strategies which aim to prevent, control and reduce violent crime, drug abuse and gang activity in targeted areas throughout the city.

5.

Begin implementation of 3 year City of Brunswick Police Department Strategic Plan. 

6. Increase the sworn personnel staffing by eight to accomodate the new development throughout the City of Brunswick.
7. Increase the number of laptops in patrol division to facilitate more time in the field by zone officers.
8.

Increase grant funding initiatives through the Planning & Research Specialist.

9. Begin construction of the new police facility.
10. Implement a Gunfire Alert System for one of the hot spots identified as high crime and drug abuse areas.
11. Implement new crime mapping software to assist in proactive enforcement techniques and identify crime trends for sworn personnel.
12. Begin the process to develop a state of the art animal care facility for the City of Brunswick.
13. Develop a Crime Analyst position to assist in providing pertinent crime trend information to assist officers in enforcement initiatives.
