| The Animal Control Unit also provides for the capture and impoundment of unwanted, stray, sick and injured animals if warranted. Other duties include: conducting investigations into matters pertaining to cruelty to animal crimes; educating the community in responsible pet ownership; providing information on spaying and neutering; and investigating reports of animal abuse, animal bites, dogs and cats running at large, and animal nuisance complaints. | |||||||
| In addition, Animal Control also patrols the city using an animal control vehicle which is equipped with specialized equipment to aid in the capture of stray, injured, and dangerous animals. The Animal Control Unit may provide traps for city residents for the capture of unwanted animals roaming on a resident's property. Stray dogs are normally captured through manual means, however, traps are available for dogs as well. The Animal Control Unit will also seek emergency veterinary care for sick and injured animals without owners if warranted. | |||||||
| In addition, Animal Control provides pick-up of unwanted animals for residents without the means to take them to the Glynn County Animal Shelter themselves. | |||||||
